Elections for the President of Truck Operators Union Kathua were concluded between a strict security guard on Sunday. Gurnam Singh Gamma was declared victorious in the counting done in the afternoon. He defeated Mohinder Singh. Gurnam Singh got 535 out of 882 votes and Mohinder Singh got 345 votes while two votes were canceled. The electoral process was completed under the supervision of the Tehsildar Headquarters and Naib Tahsildar while heavy deployment of police and paramilitary forces was also ensured. The voting process started at ten in the morning continued peacefully till noon, after which the counting of votes began. With the announcement of the victory of Gurnam Singh, the wave of happiness spread among the supporters. Gurnam Singh celebrated the victory rally with supporters.
Gurnam Singh said that he thanked the truck operators for their trust. At the same time, they also assure that the leaders will work with fairness for every member of the Union after rising above victory. Union members are always available to solve the problems. Said that the responsibility of the truck union chief is not only to look after the drivers and the owners, but the person responsible for this job is on the responsible post.
